Trump’s Crypto Platform Plagued by Scam Artists Offering $15,000 Giveaways
Former U.S. President Donald Trump’s family-supported cryptocurrency platform is facing a predicament as scammers have targeted the platform with false promises of cryptocurrency giveaways, misleading over 70,000 users. These scammers have been posting deceptive advertisements on the platform’s official Telegram channel, redirecting unsuspecting users to a fraudulent group that claims to offer $15,000 in cryptocurrency.
Trump’s Crypto Platform Victim to Fraudulent Crypto Giveaways
World Liberty Financial, the cryptocurrency platform backed by Donald Trump’s family, has fallen victim to scammers who have misled over 70,000 users with bogus giveaways of digital currency.
Since its launch just a month ago, the platform has managed to amass over 230,000 subscribers on its official Telegram channel, positioning itself as a formidable challenger to traditional financial institutions. However, cybercriminals have seized this opportunity by placing fake ads on the legitimate channel, luring users into a fraudulent group named “World Liberty Financial Airdrop.” This imposter channel, currently boasting 74,741 subscribers on Telegram, falsely promises participants up to $15,000 in cryptocurrency if they connect their wallets, putting their funds at grave risk.
In response to these scams, the official Telegram channel for World Liberty Financial has issued multiple warnings to its followers, cautioning them against engaging with scams and fake tokens claiming association with “Defiant Ones,” “World Liberty,” or similar names. The channel also offered guidance on how to recognize false ads, highlighting that authentic posts will never be labeled as “Sponsored” or “Ad.” Users are urged to report any suspicious content to Telegram and advised to remain vigilant. One of the warnings explicitly stated to avoid clicking on any ads or links that purport to be associated with World Liberty Financial, emphasizing that the platform is not conducting any airdrops or token sales at this time.
Despite the challenges his platform faces, Trump remains steadfast in his support for pro-cryptocurrency policies, dubbing himself the “crypto president” and even proposing a “national bitcoin stockpile” should he be reelected. Moreover, the former president has recently entered the non-fungible token (NFT) space, launching his fourth NFT collection.
