Trump discusses DeFi and unveils World Liberty Financial on live X Space
Recently, Donald Trump made an appearance on an X Space hosted by crypto influencer @Farokh, attracting over 1.2 million listeners. During the session, he touched upon the future of decentralized finance (DeFi) in the US and introduced his own crypto project called World Liberty Financial.
The X Space lasted for approximately 2 hours and 23 minutes, and a recording of the live session is accessible for users to listen to. Elon Musk, who also quoted and shared the space initially, has since removed the post from his account.
Trump covered various topics during the live session, including a reported assassination attempt. However, the discussion primarily revolved around decentralized finance and its potential in the US, followed by an introduction to his crypto project.
Joined by his son Donald Jr. in the livestream, the former president mentioned that World Liberty Financial aims to promote financial security and the freedom to conduct transactions. Donald Jr. highlighted the importance of addressing an existing problem and expressed his belief that this project can provide a solution.
It is noteworthy that, despite previously criticizing Bitcoin as a scam, Trump has demonstrated strong support for the digital asset and the decentralized finance sector as the race for votes continues. He has even made a commitment to establish the US as the “crypto capital of the planet,” emphasizing the need for the nation to surpass China in this regard.
In recent weeks, Donald Jr. and Eric Trump have actively promoted World Liberty Financial on platforms like Telegram and X. The involvement of the Trump family in launching a crypto project aligns with their pro-crypto policy stance, according to Campbell Harvey, a finance professor at Duke University, who also commented on their venture.
