White House Raises Concerns Over DPRK’s Cyberattacks and Cryptocurrency Theft

The White House believes that cyberattacks and cryptocurrency theft remain a key source of revenue for the DPRK regime.

The Defense Department said that at least half of the country’s missile program is funded with those funds.

This was the point made by Ann Neuberger, deputy national security advisor for cybercrime and new technologies.. She attended an event by a private contractor called Special.

She said federal authorities are doing everything they can to identify and cut off the North Korean regime’s funding routes.

Also, the Defense Ministry is making significant efforts to find out how the country has been so successful in this area.

Remind that in mid-April, the DPRK tested a new missile, the Hwasong-18.. According to military experts, the country can use it to launch point nuclear strikes at much greater distances.

It is possible that this project was, in fact, financed with other people’s money.

We should also note that earlier such statements were made in the UN Security Council. We covered this report in a separate piece.

Neuberger did not give exact numbers. However, earlier Chainalysys published a report based on which North Korean hackers stole $1.7 billion worth of cryptocurrency in 2022 alone.

In doing so, they are becoming more and more insolent.. Earlier we reported that “himself” Kim Jong-un listed and even passed the KYC. Probably to launder stolen money, no differently.
