Woman defrauded of 17 million rubles while selling cryptocurrency

In the Krasnodar Territory, a cryptocurrency investor was recently scammed out of 17 million rubles.

The woman was trying to sell her USDT tokens when she posted an ad on social media offering to sell them for 196,500 euros.

Two buyers from Kazan agreed to the deal and handed over the money to the woman.

However, after the transaction was completed, the woman discovered that the 196,500 euros she had received were fake.

She immediately went to the police, who tracked down the culprits in a hotel in Yekaterinburg.

The buyers were caught, one of whom hired a storekeeper from Wildberries as his “bodyguard.” The latter claims he had no knowledge of the scam.

Sadly, this is not the first time such an incident has happened in Russia. In St. Petersburg, a man was attacked and robbed of his money while trying to exchange rubles for cryptocurrency.

In Omsk, three men were recently sentenced to terms in a strict regime correctional colony after they forced a resident to transfer cryptocurrency worth 84 million rubles.

In March, police in Irkutsk arrested a group of people who promised to sell and place mining equipment, but instead fled with 12 million rubles belonging to clients.

Cryptocurrency investors must remain vigilant and take precautions to ensure the safety of their investments.

It is essential to use trusted platforms and to deal only with reputable buyers and sellers.

It is also important to remember that cryptocurrency transactions are irreversible and to take steps to safeguard one’s digital assets.
