ZkSync Era ahead of Ethereum in number of monthly transactions

  • The zkSync network has recorded more transactions in the past month than the Ethereum mainnet, making it a preferred choice for users.
  • In the span of 30 days, the number of confirmed transactions in ZkSync Era reached an impressive 34.7 million.
  • Meanwhile, the Ethereum mainnet processed 34.2 million transactions during the same period.

According to the L2Beat portal, the L2 solution zkSync’s main network has surpassed Ethereum in terms of monthly transaction volume.

Over the course of the last 30 days, ZkSync Era registered 34.7 million transactions, outranking the Ethereum mainnet’s 34.2 million transactions. Following closely behind is the Arbitrum protocol network.

This increase in transaction volume can be attributed to the rise of “inscriptions,” which are unique NFTs that have recently gained popularity across different networks. Some notable examples include Ethscriptions on Ethereum, Doginals on Dogecoin, and Solana Inscriptions on the Solana blockchain.

The surge in activity on the ZkSync Era network was most prominent on December 16th, 2023, which saw the launch of “inscriptions” on the protocol’s mainnet. Out of the 5.3 million daily transactions, 4.6 million were attributed to these tokens.

However, on December 25th, 2023, the ZkSync mainnet encountered a temporary setback when it experienced a system failure that caused a 5-hour block production halt. The protocol team identified the root cause as a server issue, which was resolved promptly.

It’s worth noting that the zkSync Era network recently introduced the Derivio protocol, further expanding its capabilities.
