The businessman, Bob Lee, has tragically passed away after being found mortally wounded near downtown San Francisco on March 4th.
He was taken to the hospital with injuries that were too severe to recover from, and the San Francisco Police Department has not yet provided any comments on the matter.
The case has been transferred to the Homicide Squad, and investigations are ongoing.
Bob Lee was a well-known figure in the crypto community, having played a significant role as the developer of the popular Cash App mobile payment service while working as CTO for Block (previously Square).
The Cash App was used by over 44 million customers by the start of 2023.
At the time of his death, Lee was serving as chief product officer for cryptocurrency startup MobileCoin, as well as being an angel investor for crypto companies Tile and Figma.
In 2021, MobileCoin’s payment solution was integrated into the services of Signal messenger.
The crypto community mourns the loss of Bob Lee, and his contributions to the industry will always be remembered.
