The decision will allow Circle to optimize operational costs and focus solely on servicing corporate or institutional customer accounts.
According to a notice issued by the company, no action will be required from Circle Mint account holders in this matter, they will be closed automatically during November.
Circle believes that the closure of Circle Mint accounts will not give rise to “any unfounded fears, conspiracy theories or misinformation”. Circle’s CEO Jeremy Allaire expressed
hope that “the strategic partnership with Circle will remain a priority, reliable and beneficial for all members of the crypto community.”
Earlier, Circle announced that the USD Coin and EUR Coin steyblocks have been renamed USDC and EURC for the sake of easy user identification.
