The CoinGecko service has launched a new index tracking the largest cryptocurrencies that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has labeled as securities.
The list is called “SEC’s Top Alleged Securities by Market Capitalization”. BNB tops the list, followed by Cardano, Solana and Tron. The index now has a market capitalization of $91.3 billion and gained 8.5% overnight.
Earlier, SEC head Gary Gensler said most crypto assets should be treated as securities. The CEO of cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, Brian Armstrong, revealed that the SEC has asked that all crypto assets other than bitcoin be removed from the site.
Gensler also claims that the cryptocurrency market is “rife with scammers and peddlers”. He believes that investors who start working with cryptoassets should be warned about the lack of protection.
