Hackers hacked attorney Jeremy Hogan’s account for fake XRP giveaway

Hackers hacked into a Twitter account belonging to attorney Jeremy Hogan, who defends cryptocurrency companies. On his behalf, the scammers published messages about giving away XRP.

Jeremy Hogan has been closely following the litigation between Ripple and the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). So it’s not surprising that hackers chose his account to publish posts about a free XRP giveaway to “celebrate” Ripple’s victory over the regulator.

Seedstarter founder Jesse Hynes was one of the first to notice the suspicious tweets on Hogan’s behalf. Hines was outraged that the compromised account incident could ruin the lawyer’s vacation. So the user reached out to other XRP enthusiasts to help spread the word about the hack of Hogan’s account.

“Hogan is just trying to spend a vacation with his family. Give the man a proper rest. So sick of scammers already,” wrote an outraged crypto-enthusiast.

Recently, attorney John Deaton, who defends the interests of XRP holders, found himself in a similar situation. Deaton was only able to gain control of his account a few days later. He urged users not to believe reports of altcoin or other giveaways posted on behalf of Hogan.

Recall that in March, hackers broke into the official account of popular Indian news channel News 24, posting a message about a 100,000,000 XRP giveaway.
