Bloomberg: ASX to launch Bitcoin ETF trading by end of 2024

An anonymous source revealed to Bloomberg that the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) is making plans to introduce spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) by the close of 2024.

According to insiders at Bloomberg, various issuers, such as VanEck, BetaShares, and DigitalX, have submitted applications to launch spot Bitcoin ETFs in January 2024. This move follows the success of US-based product issuers, who have amassed over $53 billion in assets under management.

Representatives from ASX confirmed that they are engaging with multiple issuers who have expressed an interest in Bitcoin spot ETFs. However, they declined to comment on whether the products will be launched by the end of 2024.

In a separate development, Jack Wang, a representative from Bloomberg, announced at an ETF conference in Hong Kong that mainland Chinese investors will be unable to purchase Bitcoin ETF units in Hong Kong due to the Chinese government’s long-standing ban on cryptocurrency transactions.
