Americans believe Kamala is better for the economy than Trump

Americans have a growing belief that Kamala Harris would be better for the economy than Donald Trump, according to a recent poll. This shift in sentiment comes after Joe Biden dropped out of the race, giving his Vice President a boost in popularity. The poll shows that 42% of Americans think Kamala would handle the economy better, compared to 41% who still trust Trump. This is a significant increase for Kamala, especially considering Biden’s lower numbers last month. Experts suggest that Biden’s poor performance may have influenced this change in opinion. Despite a strong economy and job numbers, voters did not feel the benefits of Biden’s policies, contributing to their preference for Kamala. Inflation concerns remain a top issue, and 60% of voters believe Kamala should either distance herself from Biden’s economic policies or make significant changes. Kamala’s approval ratings are higher than Biden’s, with 46% of registered voters approving of her job as Vice President. However, economic worries still exist and could work in Trump’s favor. Trump continues to lead in certain areas, particularly trade, with 43% of voters trusting him more in managing economic relations with China. Trump’s tough stance on trade and protectionist policies resonate with some voters. However, only 25% of voters rate current economic conditions as “excellent” or “good,” and 42% believe they would be better off if Trump were in office again, compared to 33% who think a Kamala presidency would be better for them.
