Yesterday, May 24, the Base blog at Mirror published a road map for the project called “Path to mainnet”. It outlines the criteria that must be met before the main client goes live.</nbsp;

There are five such conditions:

  • Chardfork Regolith in Base testnet;
  • Infrastructure validation by the OP Labs team because the blockchain relies on the OP stack, which also uses Optimism;
  • A successful client upgrade to Bedrock, which would optimize the network and lower fees.. Upgrade scheduled for June 6;
  • successful completion of external and internal audits with no critical issues;
  • demonstrated stability for the testnet, followed by preparations for a major network release.

The first two criteria are successfully met.. As for the rest, approximate dates are known only for the Bedrock update – June 6. The timing of the remaining stages is not specified.

But the Base team promised to give a more precise timeline “in the near future.

Recall, the L2-protocol from Coinbase was launched at the end of February this year. And at the initial stage, it was not without serious problems.

At the end, the company offered to mint the memorable NFT “Path to Mainnet”. At the same time, the Base team reiterated that there are no plans to airdrop the main network release.
