Blackrock Seeks SEC Approval to Offer Options on Spot Bitcoin ETF — Ishares Bitcoin Trust Now Holds 28,622 BTC

Blackrock, the world’s largest asset manager, has applied for SEC approval to offer options on its spot bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF). In the meantime, Blackrock’s Ishares Bitcoin Trust has accumulated a substantial amount of Bitcoin, holding 28,622 BTC. Nasdaq, which lists and trades the IBIT, has also filed a proposed rule change with the SEC to allow options trading on IBIT. The SEC has commenced a comment period for this proposed rule change, which will last for 21 days after publication. The approval of options trading on spot bitcoin ETFs could happen as early as the end of February.
