The Glif project within the Filecoin ecosystem has announced the distribution of 100 million GLIF tokens through an airdrop. This move is part of the project’s tokenomics, with 35% of the total supply allocated to the community. This includes 10% for the airdrop, 15.65% for investors, 29.35% for core participants, and 20% for ecosystem development. The total emission volume of GLIF will be 1 billion tokens as per the tokenomics.
The airdrop tokens will be distributed to GLIF Points holders at a 1:1 ratio. The project team initiated a points-earning campaign in late March 2024, and community members have accumulated approximately 82 million points by October 15. The remaining 18 million GLIF Points will be distributed through a token generation event (TGE) and subsequent airdrop. The TGE is expected to take place in late 2024 or early 2025, giving participants a year to claim their rewards. Any unclaimed tokens will revert to the project’s treasury.
During the airdrop, participants will receive 25% of the tokens immediately, with the remaining 75% distributed linearly over 180 days. The team and early participants will undergo a three-year vesting period, while investors will have a two-year vesting period. The tokenomics also indicate the creation of a GLIF Foundation to coordinate decisions made by GLIF token holders.
Overall, the Glif project is taking significant steps to engage and reward its community through the airdrop of 100 million GLIF tokens, incentivizing participation and fostering long-term growth in the ecosystem.
