Mobile operator MTS announced the launch of a blockchain accelerator

MTS, a leading Russian mobile operator, along with its subsidiary MTS StartUp Hub and the MTS corporate venture fund, has unveiled a unique support service aimed at assisting startups in the development of blockchain-based digital products.

Under this program, participating startups will have the opportunity to secure investments of up to $5 million from the MTS Venture Fund to drive the growth of their projects. The acceleration program is set to span two months and will include a lineup of immersive master classes, workshops, personalized guidance from MTS trackers and business customers, and access to renowned experts from the local blockchain industry.

The service is open to creators of startups focused on various areas, including blockchain-based identification systems, physical devices for distributed registries, crypto cards, and crypto ATMs. Additionally, fintech services developing payment solutions for digital asset transactions, blockchain-powered crowdfunding and crowdinvesting platforms, and philanthropic foundations can also apply.

Startups working on solutions for property rights registration and transfer, cybersecurity for data and infrastructure, and those developing “blockchain products with high investment potential” are encouraged to participate in the competitive selection process.

The applications will be accepted until June 10, with the program concluding on September 1 with a demo day, where participants will showcase their project pitches to senior executives from MTS, external venture funds, and potential private investors.

In 2021, MTS made an impressive move by acquiring a controlling stake in Factorin, a blockchain platform for trade finance, for a total transaction value of 867 million rubles.
