The highly-popular anime franchise, Ghost in the Shell, is preparing to make its debut in the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on October 31st. Animoca Brands Japan, a leading company in blockchain gaming and digital entertainment, will be launching a collection of NFTs inspired by Ghost in the Shell on the Ethereum network.
The NFT collection will consist of 500 unique tokens, featuring characters from the iconic 1995 anime movie adaptation of the original manga series by Masamune Shirow. These NFTs will be made available for purchase on Animoca Brands Japan’s NFT trading platform called SORAH.
The sales of the Ghost in the Shell NFTs will employ a lottery-based model and a first-come-first-served model, utilizing the Allow List, which grants priority purchase rights to users. Each token will be priced at ETH 0.018, approximately equivalent to $45.16 based on the current Ethereum price.
This Ghost in the Shell NFT collection will be the first installment of a series called “AnimeTraits” by Animoca Brands Japan. The company plans to collaborate with other beloved anime and manga franchises in the future to create more NFT collections.
In addition to the NFTs, Animoca Brands Japan will offer customization options for owners of their Mocaverse offerings, as well as those who hold CoolCats and San FranTokyo collections. Furthermore, users will also have the opportunity to purchase changed costume images as merchandise on the AnimeTraits site.
Ghost in the Shell, created by Masamune Shirow, is a renowned cyberpunk manga series that was first serialized in 1989. It has since been adapted into various anime adaptations, with the 1995 film adaptation directed by Mamoru Oshii being the most well-known. The franchise explores philosophical themes and takes place in a technologically advanced world, following the story of a cyborg public-security agent named Motoko Kusanagi as she hunts down a mysterious hacker known as the Puppet Master.
