Susan Friedman: “Ripple sees London as a global cryptohub”

Ripple’s head of policy Susan Friedman said the company intends to expand its presence in London as the city’s dynamic environment encourages growth in the crypto industry.</div

In an interview for the Digital Pound Foundation’s YouTube channel, Susan Friedman said that the U.K. government is demonstrating a progressive approach to the digital financial technology sector. On that basis, Ripple sees London as a thriving ecosystem for innovation with a supportive regulatory environment and a vibrant fintech community.

“London continues to embrace digital currencies and collaborate with stakeholders in the crypto industry. It has significant potential to shape the future of digital finance and great prospects to become a global leader in the digital currency revolution,” Friedman said.

She also noted that London’s significant talent pool, favorable regulatory environment and reputation as a global financial center set the stage for expanding Ripple’s presence in the city. Previously, the company’s administration has repeatedly stated that it has not ruled out moving its headquarters overseas because of dissatisfaction with the U.S. regulatory environment.

“Confusing regulations in the U.S. will force more cryptocurrency companies out of the country as firms like Ripple seek to hire and invest outside the country,” Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse told CNBC.

Recall that in June, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) issued a crypto-asset license to Ripple’s subsidiary, Ripple Markets APAC.
