Sygnum Launches New Office in Lugano to Support Bitcoin Community

Sygnum, a leading digital asset banking group, has made a strategic move by establishing a new office in Lugano, Switzerland. This decision is significant due to Lugano’s status as the largest city in the Italian-speaking Canton of Ticino. The primary objective of the office is to cater to local clients while strengthening connections with the growing Bitcoin and digital asset community.

The newly opened Sygnum office in Lugano will offer a range of services tailored to clients in Ticino. Relationship Managers will provide personalized service, including high-security Bitcoin custody, sophisticated trading capabilities, and Crypto Lombard Loans. Notably, all client assets will be recorded off the balance sheet to mitigate the risks of bankruptcy.

The office, located within the Plan ₿ HUB, will collaborate closely with the City of Lugano, which has exhibited a favorable approach to cryptocurrency regulation. Lugano residents can already pay their municipal taxes with Bitcoin and utilize it as a form of payment in various stores, highlighting the city’s efforts to integrate Bitcoin into everyday transactions.

The Plan ₿ initiative, dedicated to enhancing the monetary environment through blockchain technology, supports various endeavors such as Bitcoin investment trusts, sustainable mining initiatives, educational initiatives, and large-scale events like the Plan ₿ Forum.

In anticipation of the Plan ₿ Forum, Sygnum has launched the ₿itcoin@Sygnum platform. This program aims to foster relationships within the Bitcoin ecosystem, encourage academic research, and drive product innovation. As awareness of Bitcoin investment opportunities continues to grow, Sygnum is well-positioned to unlock the disruptive potential of this asset class within the financial industry.

Martin Burgherr, Sygnum’s Chief Client Officer, expressed excitement about the office opening, emphasizing the region’s conducive environment for digital progress. The expansion of Sygnum’s presence in Lugano will deepen the company’s ties to the local ecosystem and expedite the development of digital asset services.

Lugano Mayor Michele Foletti warmly welcomed Sygnum’s arrival, recognizing Lugano’s aspirations to become a blockchain hub. Foletti highlighted the need for institutions to embrace the potential for financial transformation within the city.

Overall, Sygnum’s establishment of a new office in Lugano reinforces its commitment to serving the Bitcoin community, bolstering the adoption of digital assets, and driving innovation in the financial industry.
