Texas lawmakers voted to change the state’s bill of rights to include the ability to use cryptocurrencies.
The bill, introduced by politician Giovanni Capriglione, states that “the right of persons to own and use a mutually agreed-upon medium of exchange, including cash, coins, bullion, digital currency or certificates in trading and contracting for goods and services, shall not be infringed.”
The bill also states that no government should prohibit citizens from owning any amount of money or other currencies.
If passed, the latest update would give Texans the right to use cryptocurrencies. The bill received 139 votes in favor and only two against.
