The creator of “Black Mirror” asked ChatGPT to make up a new episode. Here’s what came out of it

  • On the eve of the new season, Charles Brooker “entertained” with a neural network
  • But he was not happy with the result

Author of the popular series “Black Mirror” Charlie Brooker tried to write a new episode via ChatGPT. However, the results did not please the screenwriter.

At first glance, the artificial intelligence generated quite an interesting story. But after deeper analysis, the writer realized it was a failure.

But instead of creating a new episode, the neural network took ideas from previous episodes piece by piece and molded them together.

“All ChatGPT did was sift through the synopses of episodes of the show and mix them together. There’s no original thought here,” Brooker admits.

But the writer did learn a valuable lesson from ChatGPT. He realized that the attempt to replace people with new technology has so far failed.. And that’s a good thing in the sense that people won’t be left without jobs and things they love.

American TV and movie writers are demanding to block the development of AI in their industry. For example, screenwriter and producer Josh Friedman told Decrypt that using neural networks amounts to plagiarism.

The series “Black Mirror” shows dystopian pictures of what the world of the future might look like. Each episode has a different storyline and raises different themes. For example, a rebellion of machines or control of humans through technology.

Maybe one of the episodes will touch on the topic of AI? We’ll soon find out, as the sixth season premieres on June 15.
