Crypto exchange Kraken received a license to operate in the Netherlands

In an exciting development, the renowned American cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has recently obtained a virtual asset service provider (VASP) license from the Dutch Central Bank (DNB), marking an important milestone for the company.

With this license, Kraken will now be able to offer its Dutch customers access to a wide range of approximately 200 digital assets. Furthermore, the management team is eager to expand its presence in the European market and has already started devising plans accordingly.

“We are thrilled to have Kraken registered as a VASP licensee in the Netherlands, as it paves the way for us to execute our growth strategy effectively in Europe. We firmly believe that this move will open up numerous opportunities for us to introduce our services to both retail clients and professional traders,” stated Brian Gahan, the esteemed Managing Director for Europe at Kraken.

It is worth noting that the Netherlands boasts one of the highest cryptocurrency adoption rates in Europe, with approximately 20% of its citizens already owning digital assets, as emphasized by the top executive.

Prior to this achievement, Kraken made headlines for refusing to comply with a court order mandating American crypto exchanges to provide supervisory authorities with data relating to clients trading the Ripple cryptocurrency (XRP).
