Edge Wallet Urges Users to Upgrade After Hack Attack

Edge Wallet, a popular cryptocurrency wallet, recently experienced a security breach, leading its developers to urge users to upgrade to the latest version of Edge v.3.3.1 as soon as possible. The reason for the emergency update was the theft of 2,000 private cryptographic keys, which resulted in the withdrawal of customer funds.

A user reported that all bitcoins were withdrawn from their wallet balance during an unauthorized transaction, prompting the Edge project team to take action.

Upon investigation, it was determined that the hacker was only interested in stealing bitcoins, and other assets stored in the wallet were not compromised. This led the developers to conclude that the hacker did not gain access to customer accounts and only the private keys of bitcoin wallets were compromised.

Although the developers announced a solution to the problem, they did not disclose the losses incurred. However, they did state that the number of affected users was less than 0.01% and the total amount stolen was not more than “five figures in US dollars.”

In other cryptocurrency news, the Hope Finance project on the Arbitrum sidechain was terminated by blockchain security company CertiK due to user losses of $1.86 million in assets.
