Founder of Cryptocurrency Project Murdered in South Korea

According to a report from KBS broadcaster, law enforcement agencies in South Korea have arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of the creator of an unidentified cryptocurrency project.

The victim, a 48-year-old woman, was taken from her home and killed in a suburb of Seoul. Police have declined to reveal her identity or the name of the cryptocurrency project, citing the ongoing investigation.

They are waiting for the necessary data from cryptography experts at the Seoul Police Department.

Sources close to the investigation claim that the criminals demanded the return of more than 190 million won ($150,000) worth of crypto assets from the victim.

The police suspect the involvement of another party who paid the criminals to carry out the murder.

In a separate incident, Canadian media reported on the kidnapping and torture of Aiden Pleterski, the self-proclaimed “Crypto King” and founder of the bankrupt crypto project AP Private Equity, in exchange for ransom.

Meanwhile, the former director of the troubled cryptocurrency exchange BitBay, Sylvester Sushek, disappeared after leaving for a business meeting in Poland a year ago.
