French Police Arrest Two Suspects Connected to Platypus Protocol Hack

French law enforcement officials have reported the apprehension of two suspects in relation to the Platypus protocol hack. The detainees were found in possession of approximately 210,000 euros worth of crypto assets.

It is believed that the hackers siphoned off approximately 9 million euros from the Platypus USD stablecoin platform. However, prior to the arrests, the Platypus team had collaborated with security experts and law enforcement officials to locate the hackers and recover stolen assets.

“Following the attack, we worked diligently with security experts and stakeholders to retrieve funds, track down the hacker, and identify potential remedies to recover frozen assets,” the Platypus team stated in a blog post on February 23.

As a result, the Platypus team confirmed the return of assets valued at $2.4 million, as well as announcing plans to negotiate compensation for losses with stablecoin issuers Tether, Ava Labs, and Binance, whose crypto assets were also employed by the attackers during the hack.

Platypus has promised to finalize the reimbursement process in March after all parties involved have settled their differences. In related news, the developers of the Edge Wallet crypto wallet recently urged users to upgrade urgently to Edge v.3.3.1 due to a hack that occurred on the wallet.
