General Bytes Announces Refund Plan for Victims of Crypto ATM Hack

General Bytes, a manufacturer of crypto ATMs, has recently announced that they are prepared to reimburse users who were affected by the recent security breach.

This breach occurred when hackers were able to gain access to customers’ hot wallets by downloading malicious Java applications onto cryptomats.

The attackers were able to steal a total of 56 BTC, which is equivalent to more than $1.5 million, and 21.82 ETH worth $37,000.

To address this issue, General Bytes has taken immediate action to prevent any further unauthorized access to their systems, and they continue to work on improving their security measures.

In addition to compensating affected customers, the company is also urging users to take steps to protect their personal information by installing their own server and securing it with a VPN.

It is important to note that this is not the first time General Bytes crypto ATMs have been targeted by hackers.

In 2021, the research division of Kraken exchange, Kraken Security Labs, published a report on the vulnerabilities of General Bytes crypto ATMs.

Despite this, General Bytes has taken responsibility for the recent security breach and is actively working to make things right for their affected users.
