Hackers hacked attorney John Deaton’s account to promote LAW token

Hackers hacked the Twitter account of attorney John Deaton, who is defending the interests of more than 76,000 XRP owners. Attackers are trying to promote the LAW token in this way.

On Saturday, June 3, on his birthday, CryptoLaw attorney and founder John Deaton was targeted by hackers, losing access to his Twitter account. On behalf of the lawyer, hackers post tweets about the crypto-asset LAW, calling it a native CryptoLaw token. Attackers describe it as a DeFi asset that takes an “innovative approach to decentralized financing”. In addition, the scammers published a link to a fake website, urging users to go there to buy LAW.

CryptoLaw warned users that Deaton’s account has been hacked and the LAW token is a fraudulent crypto-asset. Users have been warned not to click on any links posted on Deaton’s behalf and to ignore his postings until the problem is resolved.

The lawyer himself was also quick to contact followers on Twitter through his daughter Jordan’s account to warn of the hacking of his account. He assured that his team is already working to restore access. Addressing the crypto community, Deaton said, “Karma will catch up with hackers, don’t worry.”

John Deaton is an important figure in the cryptocurrency industry. Much of his Twitter content focuses on the SEC’s litigation against Ripple. Deaton convinced: Ripple can prove in court that XRP is not considered a security and will defeat the regulator. An attorney recently backed a securities clarity bill that could prohibit the SEC from overseeing most crypto-assets.
