In Canada, burglars have started breaking into crypto investors’ homes en masse

The Vancouver Metropolitan Municipalities of Richmond and Delta Agglomeration Police Department said large cryptocurrency investors have been increasingly victimized by robbers over the past year.

The criminals knew in advance that the attack victims were heavily invested in digital assets, Canadian law enforcement officials said. The attackers managed to find out the residence, after which – to attack crypto investors in their own homes.

Police did not provide details on the amount of cryptocurrencies stolen. However, the attackers have been known to pose as couriers or civil servants. Once inside the home, the intruders took personal information from the victims that allowed them to access crypto assets.

Police warn that the only defense against such attacks is to keep suspicious people out of your home. You can ask the courier to leave the package outside or call the organization to confirm the identity of the employee. If a person refuses to leave despite requests, it is better to call the police right away. Locals are advised to keep financial information in a safe place and try not to discuss their investments on social media.

“If you or someone you know has been a victim of robbery, call the police. You may have important information that will help our investigators,” announced Sgt. Jill Long.

US police recently tracked down two 17-year-olds from Canada who stole $4 million in bitcoins and ether from an American man. The criminals posed as support staff at cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase.
