Terraform Labs Founder Hires Dentons, World’s Largest Law Firm, Amidst Investigation

The founder of Terraform Labs hired the world’s largest law firm Dentons to represent the businessman during the investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

This is not the first time Do Kwon has used the services of Dentons. Businessman hired company attorneys to challenge subpoenas and litigate in the U.S. and Singapore.

The law firm also represents the Terra project itself in numerous lawsuits.

In February, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) sued Do Kwon and Terraform Labs, alleging fraud and sale of unregistered securities.

In March, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York charged Doe Kwon with eight counts, including securities fraud and wire fraud;

Do Kwon is now being held in a prison in Montenegro, whose authorities accuse the Korean businessman of document fraud.

The court initially allowed the release of the detainee along with former Terraform CFO Han Chang-Joon.

The detainees promised that if they pay the 400,000 euro bail they will not abscond until the end of the criminal proceedings, will respond regularly to court summons and will remain available at the address their lawyer has indicated.

But then the court decided to keep them both in jail.

In addition to the U.S., Do Kwon faces multiple fraud charges from South Korean authorities. The reason: the collapse of the Terra project in the spring of 2022.
