Ethereum Foundation Releases Software Update to Address Network Failures

The Ethereum Foundation developers have released a software update for Prysm and Teku clients to prevent further network failures.

Large-scale outages occurred May 11 and 12, when the Ethereum network experienced block finalization problems twice in a 24-hour period.

The first incident lasted 25 minutes and the second lasted over an hour. There is speculation that it may be related to ether steaking and MEV bots.

Ethereum Foundation says it is still investigating the exact cause of the failure. Most likely, it is in the high load on some customers.

Superphiz, an Etherium developer and Beacon Chain consultant, assured via Twitter that the effects of the outage are minimal and not a threat to users.

Transactions were not stopped, the blockchain continued to operate, and the disruptions had no effect on network activity.

To solve the problem, Etherium developers released patches for Prysm and Teku customers to update their systems.

End users have had no problems with transactions, Ethereum Foundation representatives assure.

“Not all customers were affected by this exceptional scenario. Eventually, they implemented the fixes, and the network worked again.

This is another step toward diversity and decentralization. Let’s learn a lesson from the situation,” Superphiz is trying to reassure investors.

According to recent Decrypt data, investors are showing a lot of interest in ether-stacking even a month after the Shanghai update.
