The Sandbox Co-Founder Believes Digital Assets Should Be Recognized as Property

The co-founder of The Sandbox believes that digital assets and non-interchangeable tokens should be recognized as property, and metaclasses should be used to get people more involved in the cryptospace.

Sebastien Borget announced at the Blockchain Week Rome event that it is time to legalize the ownership of crypto-assets and collectible tokens as more and more people buy cryptocurrencies and are interested in digital technology.

The number of people who grew up with digital gadgets in their hands is growing. Already more than half of the world’s population can be called “digital natives,” says Borger.

The businessman cited a December 2021 United Nations report that nearly two-thirds of people (about 5 billion) use the internet.

“These people can spend money on digital assets and time on meta-universes. So we need to create a future where these assets have real value and are recognized as property,” Borger said.

The co-founder of The Sandbox said cryptocurrencies can expand payment options for people in regions with poor banking systems.

Borger called meta-universes a new environment for the interaction of people interested in new technologies.

Metaworlds can be used for both games and work, so the digital economy is already becoming real, the businessman announced.

Given the events affecting the planet, wars, and rising prices, metacommunities can be a space for social impact and human awareness.

Sebastian Borger believes that with the help of metaworlds, people can best manifest their innate talents and skills, which are quicker and easier to develop in the virtual world.

It can be new content and new ideas related to fiction. Therefore, the advantages of virtual worlds far outweigh the disadvantages, Borger is convinced.

Last year, participants in the World Economic Forum (WEF) raised concerns about the safety of children in meta-universes.

In March 2023, U.S. senators demanded that Meta shut down access to its Horizon Worlds metaworld for people under the age of 17.
