Dagestan power engineers force miners to turn off equipment

The energy branch of the Rosseti state corporation in the North Caucasus region has issued a public demand for cryptocurrency mining farm owners to power down their equipment.

Recent disruptions in the energy network operations in the Republic of Dagestan have been attributed to the activities of miners. Rosseti representatives assert that the load on the grid spikes during specific time periods, indicating the heightened activity of virtual asset extraction farms.

Residential areas in the city of Makhachkala are experiencing a critical situation with the strain on the power grid, according to complaints filed by power engineers. Dagenergo specialists urgently appeal to users not to overload the networks, particularly during this unusually cold winter where temperatures are dropping to -13 degrees, an uncommon occurrence in the region.

In the outskirts of Makhachkala, specifically the Palmira area of the Reduktorny village, city power grid experts have commenced morning raids in search of miners. Cryptocurrency miners who have unlawfully connected to networks and consume an excessive amount of electricity compared to the designated norm are expected to face consequences.

For the past two years, the State Duma has been attempting to enact a set of regulations for the mining industry. Anatoly Aksakov, the head of the Committee on Financial Markets, has assured that the necessary legislation will be passed this spring.
