Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase is exploring ways to integrate Lightning Network

Coinbase’s CEO said the trading platform is exploring the best ways to integrate the Lightning Network solution for faster and cheaper transactions.

Brian Armstrong supported the implementation of a layer 2 solution to scale Bitcoin’s network. The businessman agrees that bitcoin has a huge potential to improve the payment system. However, Armstrong did not disclose specific details regarding Lightning Network’s potential integration with Coinbase, anda timeline for implementation.

“We are exploring ways to better integrate the Lightning Network. It’s a complex issue, but it’s worth pursuing. I’m in favor of the number of bitcoin payments increasing. I don’t know why many people think we’re ignoring Bitcoin – we’ve connected more people to Bitcoin than any other company in the world,” the Coinbase executive tweeted.

The businessman is convinced that cryptocurrency payments should be instant and free of charge. Armstrong’s tweet was responded to by Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, who is also a strong supporter of bitcoin.

“There’s no doubt Coinbase has introduced a lot of people to bitcoin, and I’m grateful for that. We need to put more resources into developing Bitcoin and second-tier solutions, and we’re happy to collaborate. There needs to be an open protocol for the transfer of money that is not controlled by any one person, company or government,” Dorsey
Dorsey wrote.

In July, the Lightning Network was integrated by cryptocurrency exchange Binance, which reported plans to introduce the feature back in May.
