U.S. presidential candidate Francis Suarez has started accepting bitcoin donations

Miami Mayor and Republican presidential candidate Francis Suarez has announced that he is accepting bitcoins as donations for his campaign.

Francis Suarez has long been known for his commitment to innovative technology and bitcoin. In his view, they are the ones who promote democracy. The mayor is convinced that donations in cryptocurrencies will prevent people with ulterior motives from committing monetary manipulation.

“Officially, my campaign accepts bitcoin. This will open up opportunities for wealth creation and funds will not be managed by people with questionable political agendas,” Suarez said.

It accepts not only bitcoins but other cryptocurrencies as well. A special “crypto” section on the presidential candidate’s website leads to a portal designed to accept various cryptocurrencies as donations. This portal is integrated with Bitpay, a leading cryptocurrency payment provider. In addition to bitcoins, payments can be made in BCH, LTC, DOGE, XRP, ETH, SHIB, USDC, DAI, MATIC, APE, BUSD, WBTC, USDP, GUSD and the EUROC stablecoin.

Earlier, Democrat Robert Kennedy Jr, who is also in the race for U.S. president, began accepting bitcoin donations to promote his political campaign. In May, his rival Vivek Ramaswamy also started collecting donations in BTC.

Current President Joe Biden has also positioned himself as a bitcoin maximalist. He launched a campaign with a coffee mug featuring Biden with red laser eyes as a symbol of Bitcoin support.
