Crypto exchange OKX is going to get a license in Hong Kong

Seychelles-based cryptocurrency exchange OKX is in the final stages of obtaining a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) license in Hong Kong.

The company expects final approval of the license by March 2024. OKX management is now in dialogue with banks and waiting for the license to start business in this special region of China.

On June 1, Hong Kong introduced a new licensing regime for virtual asset service providers (VASPs) that allowed local users to trade cryptocurrencies. While initially more than 80 crypto firms expressed interest in opening an office in the country, only a few crypto platforms such as HashKey and OSL have obtained the necessary license to launch retail cryptocurrency trading services.

HashKey started offering retail cryptocurrency trading services to Hong Kong users on August 28.

Earlier, it was reported that OKX is about to launch in India and is hiring right now, despite the uncertainty of the prospect of authorization from local regulators
