The value of Justin Bieber’s NFT from the BAYC collection fell tenfold

Pop singer Justin Bieber bought an NFT from the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) collection for $1.3 million. In a year and a half, however, the token went down in price by 95%, causing Bieber to suffer a loss of about $1.2 million.

Justin Bieber purchased “bored monkey” #3001 from the BAYC collection in January 2022. He paid 500 ETH ($1.31 million) for NFT.

Given that the monkey has no rare characteristics or features, and it lacks any accessories, it ranked only 9,810th in rarity. So some collectors were surprised that the singer spent such a large sum to buy this particular NFT.

Now the “bored monkey” is worth $57,000. However, the media thinks that the actual loss for Bieber could be zero, as there were reports that the singer could get the NFT for free in exchange for promoting BAYC on social media.

Several Twitter users reported that a transfer of 400 ETH (approximately $1.2 million) was made to Bieber’s wallet from an address associated with MoonPay and Yuga Labs.

In November 2022, the minimum value of Bored Monkey was only $74,382, and on the OpenSea trading platform it fell even lower, to $66,781.
