Yuga Labs hires gaming industry veteran Mike Sievers for Otherside metaverse launch

Yuga Labs is bringing in some of the game industry’s best experts as it prepares to launch the Otherside metaclass universe.

“There have been times in my career when I felt a new technology was creating a real paradigm shift for the world,” Sievers said in a statement.”

I understand that Web3 is one of those moments, and I’m very excited to join Yuga Labs to help usher in a new era of the Internet that will change the world for the better.”

Seevers is a true veteran of the gaming industry.

He has years of experience in various roles at Epic Games and Riot Games, as well as serving as CEO of gaming technology startup AppOnboard, which raised $20 million in Series C funding for the game engine Buildbox.

Early in his career, Sievers worked as a project manager and software engineer for Mastercard and AT&T.

Yuga Labs said it hired him for his proven track record in propelling organizations to the next stage of growth:

“Mike has experience taking organizations to the next level and shares our vision of how important digital identity and community are to the future of the Internet,” the company said in a statement.”

We have an opportunity to become a Web3 platform at the forefront of community and social engagement, through media and entertainment, and Mike’s expertise will help us achieve that.”

Sivers’ new role is another sign that Yuga Labs is serious about promoting games and wants Otherside to be a hit, despite the downturn in user enthusiasm for meta universes.

Recall that the current CEO Daniel Alegre previously served as president and chief operating officer of Activision Blizzard.

Yuga has also hired from Google, Oculus, Apple, Dune Games, Monolith Gaming, WB Gaming, Microsoft, Coinbase and American Express.
