Texas Blockchain Council and Riot Platforms Sue US Department of Energy

The Texas Blockchain Council and cryptocurrency mining company Riot Platforms filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Energy and Office of Management and Budget in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas.

Texas Blockchain Council and Riot Platforms demand ban on collecting data on Bitcoin miners. The lawsuit states that the actions of the US Department of Energy are illegal.

Let us recall that at the beginning of this year, the department requested the collection of service data regarding electricity consumption from companies involved in cryptocurrency mining.

The Ministry issued the relevant order to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA). The EIA explained that mining companies can harm US infrastructure and nature.

The Texas Blockchain Council and Riot Platforms consider the ministry’s actions to be completely far-fetched and detrimental to the development of the mining market in the United States.

Previously, the cryptocurrency company Lejilex, together with the Cryptocurrency Freedom Alliance of Texas (CFAT), filed a lawsuit against the US SEC for excessive regulation of the digital assets sector without legislative authority.
