Employees of the office in “Moscow City” were detained for crypto fraud

Executives and employees of a company with an office in Moscow City have been detained over cryptocurrency scams. This was reported in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Employees of the organization, namely the call center, were looking for citizens who wanted to invest in bitcoins. In order to purchase the digital asset, they offered the victim to transfer the amount in rubles using bank card details. At the same time, a number registered to some foreign nationals was used for calls.

“After receiving the transfer, the con artists bought bitcoins, provided the client with proof of a successful transaction, then stole the cryptocurrency and stopped contacting them,” police say.

The office has already been searched. Police seized computer equipment, communication equipment, bank cards, documents and other items;

The detainees are now also being probed for involvement in crimes dating back to 2022.

Recently, law enforcement authorities in the Penza region reported that they had discovered four underground miners who had teamed up and were stealing electricity to mine cryptocurrencies.

Bratsk police shut down an underground mining farm. And it was really underground – 60 ASIC-mainers were installed in the basement of an apartment building.
