MicroStrategy Founder Defends Bitcoin Miners, Rejecting Environmental Pollution Claims

MicroStrategy’s founder, Michael Saylor, has recently defended bitcoin miners, stating that their activities are not harmful to the environment, but instead, reduce energy bills for citizens.

This comes after Senator Elizabeth Warren criticized miners for increasing energy bills for millions of Americans and enriching cryptocurrency executives.

Warren also claimed that miners are causing as much damage to the environment as 3.5 million gas-powered cars.

However, Saylor disagrees with Warren’s statement and argues that cryptocurrency miners act as data centers and use excess electricity that would otherwise be wasted.

Therefore, they serve an important function by ensuring the safest computer network in the world.

He believes that miners are not only beneficial to the economy, but they also have a positive impact on the environment by reducing energy waste.

Last year, Saylor opposed a two-year moratorium on new mining farms launching in New York State, stating that lawmakers’ actions were pointless and detrimental to the state’s economy.

It remains to be seen whether the debate between Saylor and Warren will continue or if there will be a shift in attitudes towards bitcoin mining and its impact on the environment.
