South Korean Cryptocurrency Exchange Gdac Hacked, Loses $14 Million

Reports indicate that Gdac, a South Korean cryptocurrency exchange, was the target of a recent cyberattack.

The hackers managed to withdraw around $14 million, which accounts for 23% of the total assets that the exchange holds.

The stolen funds included 61 BTC, 350.5 ETH, 10 million Wemix tokens, and $220,000. Gdac has notified the police about the hack and is working to refund affected users.

The exchange has also enlisted the help of the Korea Internet and Security Agency (KISA).

In response to the incident, Gdac has urged other exchanges to block deposits from the wallet address used in the attack.

This comes after the recent hacking of decentralized exchange SushiSwap, which saw hackers exploit a vulnerability in the RouteProcessor2 smart contract for trade routing, making off with over $3.3 million.

Additionally, hackers recently targeted the DeFi Terraport Finance project, making away with approximately 9.5 million TERRA, 15 billion LUNC, and 5.5 million USTC, totaling about $4 million in stolen funds.
