Mark Zuckerberg appeared less than enthusiastic about Apple’s new product, noting that his company has a different view of technology

Apple’s Vision Pro augmented reality helmet didn’t introduce anything revolutionary in terms of technology. This opinion was expressed by the head of Meta* Mark Zuckerberg at a meeting with his subordinates, writes The Verge. According to him, the Cupertino company has not developed any “magic solution” to the existing problems in the field of augmented reality, on which Meta is also working.

Zuckerberg added that Apple’s helmet clearly demonstrates the difference in companies’ values and vision for virtual reality. According to him, Meta’s vision for the meta-universe is to socialize. Apple, on the other hand, has a focus on using the device for personal consumption.

Apple has a focus on using the device for personal consumption.

“Our device is designed to be active and to do something. By comparison, every [Vision Pro] demonstration showed a person sitting alone on the couch,” Zuckerberg said.

The Meta chief conceded that Apple’s solution has a right to exist, but it’s not the future he sees for the technology.

Let’s remember that Apple previously unveiled its Vision Pro augmented reality helmet. Newly equipped with LiDAR cameras for eye and hand tracking. The device runs solely by wire from a portable battery and lasts only two hours. The helmet supports apps for iPhone and iPad. Apple’s new product is priced at $3499, and the helmet will go on sale in the U.S. in early 2024.

Media previously revealed that Apple designers were opposed to the company releasing the helmet in its current form. They think the product is still raw, and it will take a couple more years to polish it. According to insiders, the company expects to sell up to a million helmets in the first twelve months. In comparison, the same first-generation iPhone the Cupertinians were able to sell many times more.
