El Salvador Launches New Program to Train Bitcoin and Lightning Network Developers

El Salvador’s government has unveiled a pioneering educational program that aims to equip university students with the expertise required to become proficient Bitcoin and Lightning Network developers.

President Nayib Bukele has stated that the new curriculum will arm students with the knowledge and skillset to build blockchain-based solutions and work with both the Bitcoin network and the Lightning Network, a second layer solution.

Bukele is confident that nurturing world-class developers will attract foreign investment and stimulate economic growth.

The announcement has been greeted with enthusiasm by supporters of the first cryptocurrency, who note that cryptocurrency education is becoming increasingly relevant, and demand for qualified industry specialists is soaring as more countries and companies adopt digital assets.

The new initiative is expected to usher in a fresh cohort of seasoned Bitcoin developers, accelerating the integration of the first cryptocurrency into El Salvador’s economy and establishing the country as a trailblazer in the field of cryptocurrency innovation.

In the fall of 2021, El Salvador became the first nation to adopt bitcoin as legal tender, and Bukele has reported that the move boosted the country’s tourism sector by 95%.

The El Salvadoran Congress has recently signaled its willingness to consider legislation that would exempt technology companies from taxes.
